Dartmouth Mayflower is delighted to have recently sponsored a drama workshop in partnership with The Flavel Arts Centre.
The students had a fun and enjoyable day, but it was also educational and some very valuable work was done. Some serious and thoughtful comments were made by the students during the course of the workshop.
It was wonderful that they were able to give a scratch performance with lighting and sound to demonstrate to their families what they had achieved, at the end of a very full day.
Workshops like this encourage students to communicate in different ways, building confidence.
Thanks to Amy, Sonia and Jade from Doorstep Arts for delivering such a great workshop, and thanks to the teachers of Dartmouth Academy, and to the students who took part and made this such a successful day.
The aim of our organisation is to build on the legacy projects created for Dartmouth Mayflower 400, and to support new local initiatives that fit well within the brief of the organisation – and this drama workshop continues our work with the students of Dartmouth Academy.
Some comments from students:
It was really good fun
It was educational. I have a better understanding of drama.
I really enjoyed it; I learnt a lot of new games that we can do at school.
I learnt new ways of expressing myself.
