Dart Sailability is a local charity which provides sailing and boating opportunities for people with disabilities. They have been operating on the River Dart for over 20 years with a fleet of specially adapted dinghies, some larger keelboats, and powerboats adapted to carry wheelchairs, supported by a number of safety craft.
Because of the redevelopment of the site at Noss on Dart Marina, DS are relocating to an alternative site at Dartside Quay, Galmpton, starting in Feb 21, with facilities which include a portacabin for use as a clubhouse, and a slipway and pontoon for launching and accessing their boats.
Dartmouth Mayflower 400 is pleased to be able to support this relocation by providing funding towards the cost of an extension to the pontoon to allow the mounting of a hoist to safely transfer sailors with disabilities into and out of the boats, and the refurbishment of the clubhouse to improve opportunities for socialising on sailing days.
The clubhouse refurbishment is sponsored thanks to a generous donation by former local resident Alan Hill.
