An original play with songs and narrative focussing on the Mayflower’s stay in Dartmouth.
Written by Derek Parsons and Keith Myerson.
“The Master of the Speedwell says that she has sprung a leak.
Asking ‘Can we fix her?’, Shipyard says ‘- will be a week.’
The Passengers were needing air and starting to freak.
We’re like; ‘Happy to oblige you’
But berthed ’em up Mill Creek!”
– A verse from the song “A Warm Welcome to Devon”

The Musical Play legacy
With intolerance and racial bigotry rising, an unequal distribution of wealth and power and an increasingly polarised world order, are things really so different now? That invaluable lesson remains relevant for us all today, and we think it needs to be out there, big bright and bold.
That’s the aim of our production, and we want it to be informative and above all entertaining.
This is a community project for people of all ages and all abilities who, perhaps, have never explored the realms of creative theatre teamwork!
Sadly, this hour-long show could not be produced because of the Covid pandemic.
Full documentation comprising the libretto & director’s notes, sheet music, music tracks (demo, backing & rehearsal) remain available for schools and theatre groups. If you would like to learn more and/or wish to put on a production, please contact the writers at derekpparsons@gmail.com.
