In the absence of our Mayflower Week (August 2020) due to COVID-19, the Maritime team put together an alternative offering to enable Dartmouth Mayflower 400 to have a Maritime profile and legacy for the project.
We are pleased to confirm that Tim Dewing, from the previous DM400 Maritime Committee, will be organising the Mayflower River Parade sponsored by Premier Marinas. This will take place on Saturday 28th August 2021 as part of the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta.
Sailing from Noss Marina along the Dartmouth side of the River Dart to just below the Lower Ferry, where a salute will be taken and the vessels will disperse.
Dartmouth Mayflower are delighted to be partnering in 2021 with:
Dart Sailability
We are supporting the relocation from Noss on Dart Marina to Dartside Quay at Galmpton by providing funds towards an extension to the pontoon on which a hoist will be installed. This will enable the safe transfer of people with disabilities into and out of the boats, and refurbishment of a portacabin to form a clubhouse. The Mayflower Pontoon will carry the project name and our Maritime sponsors will have an acknowledgement displayed in the new Club House.
Crew sail on the Prolific – ASTO Race
With the Royal Dart Youth Sailing Trust, along with Dartmouth Academy and Dartmouth YC, and with the aid of funds donated by Dartmouth United Charities and RDYC, DM400 is sponsoring a crew of disadvantaged young people to sail in the Ocean Youth Trust’s yacht Prolific as part of the ASTO Mayflower Race from Southampton to Dartmouth in August 2021, which is organised by the Association of Sail Training Organisations.
Pilgrim of Brixham
Also as part of the Mayflower legacy we have supported young people sailing with the Pilgrim of Brixham – on September 16th and with two more sailings over the next three years.
