This month we are celebrating the laying of the Keel of our Scale Model of the Mayflower.
Axminster Tools & Machinery have been associated with the Mayflower model build from April, when the first delivery of tools and machines for the project arrived at the Royal Britannia Naval College. Along with their own Axminster and Axcaliber brands, the company has also enlisted a number of their supply partners to support the model build. These include Aries Dust Extraction and Aries Duct Fix, Festool high quality power tools, Tormek sharpening systems, Proxxon model making machines and Lie-Nielsen precision hand tools.
Leader of the Mayflower model build, Ian Kirkwood, said that the support provided by Axminster has been invaluable. “We have benefited tremendously from Axminster’s exceptional choice of quality machines and tools, their in-depth knowledge and their appreciation of the technical aspects of this high-precision build. We are delighted that a company based in the South-West has stepped up to support the Mayflower model and that this will encourage others in the region and nationally to play their part in the many other projects and events planned for the 400th anniversary celebrations.”
Sales Director for Axminster Tools & Machinery, Darran McLeod, said the company was proud to be associated with such a significant historical event and the building of a model which will help commemorate the very best of human endeavour. “Through our association with the replica model of the Mayflower, we hope to raise awareness of the Axminster Tools & Machinery brand as a supplier to all the woodworking trades, including boatbuilders and other joinery specialists. We hope of course, to attract the attention of novice and veteran hobby enthusiasts and model makers who will be inspired by the Mayflower replica to take on more ambitious projects with tools and expertise we can provide.”
